What is the difference between a short block and a long block?

Engines are two halves.  The bottom half of an engine, which houses the crankshaft, pistons, etc., is commonly referred to as the short block.  A long block includes the short block - or bottom half of the engine, plus the top half as well.  The top includes the valves, camshaft, etc., and is commonly referred to as the "heads".

How long will it take you to ship an engine to me?

Shipping will vary.  Once your engine is rebuilt or we receive your core exchange, usually within one week to ten days, but there can be exceptions.  Once we ship your engine to you expect 4 to 7 days for the freight company to contact you about delivery.

Sorry, but we do not ship COD.

What is a core exchange and why do I have to pay a deposit or fee for it?

A core exchange applies when we take your engine and exchange it for one of ours.  Our basic engine prices include all parts and materials used to rebuild an engine internally.  Prices do not include the engines, or cores, themselves.

We charge a core deposit if you wish us to ship your engine before we receive yours.  When we receive your core, we will first pressure test it to make certain that the block is not cracked.  If it is not cracked your core deposit will be issued immediately.  If it is cracked and the block is not reusable, your core deposit will not be refunded.

If you have any question about whether your engine block is cracked, please have it tested locally before shipping to us.  Cracked blocks can only be returned at customers expense.

If you ship your engine to us first, there is no core exchange deposit.

Are core exchanges available for all makes and models?

No.  Exceptionally old vehicles, limited production runs, etc., will likely not have an available core exchange.  In these instances you will ship your engine to us and we will rebuild it for you.
